Roy Clarence DeSha
Brentwood - Roy Clarence DeSha, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 12, 2019 in Brentwood, TN. Roy was born in Chattanooga, TN on November 11, 1931 and after spending time in Miami and southern GA, came to Nashville to finish high school at Trevecca. There, he met, fell in love and married Sibyle Faye Olive of Nashville who was the mother of his 3 children who survive him; Roy Jr. (Tina), Celeste Claire Perry (Roger) and Gregory P. DeSha. After Sibyle's passing in 1992, Roy was blessed to meet and marry Genevieve DeSha in 1994 to whom he was devoted to the end. Roy is also survived by her sons Clifton and Hugh Smith, and his sister Marsha Bishop (Bill). He was especially proud of his grandchildren Derek DeSha, triplets Jonathan Perry, Joshua Perry(Erin), Joel Perry (Florence), and Jacob Perry (Allyson) and great grandchildren Hailey Perry, Emmett Perry and Hayden Perry.
Roy's professional life was dedicated to insurance sales and sales management with Prudential and Nationwide insurance companies before retiring in 1995. He served in the Air Force and was a member of the TN Air National Guard for 20 years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Even as his health deteriorated, his fun loving nature and sense of humor prevailed. Never one to pass up an opportunity to elicit a laugh, he kept the Hospice providers entertained as long as he was able. To the chagrin of many, he passed his "one liner" cleverness to his progeny.
A visitation will be held at Spring Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 4-8pm and a funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 2pm in the Spring Hill Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.
