Gail Spratlin Obituary

Gail Croft Spratlin passed away peacefully on November 22, 2019.

Gail was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 9, 1941 to the late Ralph E. Croft and Marion B. Croft. She grew up in Birmingham, where she graduated from Shades Valley High School. Gail married James T. Hamn, Jr. and was blessed with her daughter, Leigh in 1963. Gail married again to Charles W. Spratlin and was blessed with her son, Pete in 1968.

She was an independent, working mother for several years, and later graduated from The University of Houston with a degree in psychology. Gail will be remembered for her successful career as a residential real estate broker, and for her devotion to family and friends.

Our family feels blessed to have known and been loved by Gail. She was emotionally intelligent, knowing the right kind of support to give others in the right moment. She also had a gift of pouring out unconditional love to both strangers and those she held close. Gail adapted to the different seasons that life brought with grace and an open mind. She welcomed adventure and silliness, bringing brightness into every moment. Our mother, grandmother, and friend had a great sense of humor, and her love and hugs will be missed greatly.

Her beautiful legacy will prevail in the lives of her children and grandchildren: Virginia "Leigh" Spratlin Jolas and her husband, Van, and their children Mark, 23, and Grace, 21; Craig Edward "Pete" Spratlin and his wife, Kit, and their children Ryan, 17, Shea, 15, and Cara, 14.

A memorial service will be conducted at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in Wynne Chapel.

In memory of Gail and her love for animals, donations may be made to Texas SPCA or your local SPCA chapter. Please accept our sincere thank you for the many kind acts tendered to us in the loss of our mother and grandmother.
