Marian Peter Obituary

Marian Nell Peter, beloved mother of five, told everyone that she was ready to meet the Lord and has finally gone to meet Him. She loved daily devotions that spoke about His connection to us and we to Him. Marian passed away peaceably in Las Colinas Acute Care in Ontario on the morning of January 8, 2021. Marian had been in the facility due to declining health for the last 3 years. Marian was born in Paducah, Kentucky and raised in a good, Christian family, growing up nearby in Lone Oak, Kentucky. Her parents, Lubie and Eva Sanderson owned and worked at Sanderson's General Store for many years. Marian was the youngest of four siblings. She enjoyed gardening, which she credits her love for that from her mother's farm. She met her husband Edward J. Peter at Murray State College in Murray, Kentucky, in 1946 (now Murray University). Ed, Marian's husband died in 1989. They moved to CA in the early 50's, finally coming to Azusa, California. Marian was active in the Sweet Adeline's singing group, worked for the US Forestry in Azusa Canyon. She was an active member of the Garden Club of America and loved growing plants and some vegetables. Marian was very active in her church all her life and was the oldest surviving member of Neighborhood Christian Fellowship (formerly Arrow Highway Wesleyan Church) in Covina, CA. She shared her faith and how it helped her to carry her through the years. Marian Peter is survived by her four children (Michael Lee Peter died in April 2015): Steven Edward Peter, Barbara "Sue" Wolkins, James (Jim) Matthew Peter, and Mary Elizabeth Bingham. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Edward Peter at Forest Lawn, Covina Hills.

I can only imagine Marian is in heaven sharing her quick wit and folksy sayings with the other saints who preceded her to glory. What laughter there must be! She is home with Jesus her Lord, the joy of her life and her hope fulfilled. We have only tears of joy for Marian.
