Deepest sympathy to Shirley and family on John's sad passing. I have great memories of my best friend, especially during our school days - ten years of playing sport together, mainly cricket and rugby. Will miss our phone calls.

Very sad to read of John's passing - a very gracious, humble man and an Icon, not only to South Canterbury Sport in General, but to New Zealand Sport - Treasure the Memories that are so important.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Ward. Mr Ward was such a great neighbour when we were growing up in Puriri Street many years ago. We lived two doors away. Such a caring man. My condolences go out to Mrs Ward, Barry and Jenny and their families at this sad time. From Colleen Day(Fahey)
