Leon made a great contribution to coins, medals and banknotes in New Zealand, with his work in the Christchurch Branch of the Royal Numismatic Society of New Zealand, on the Society's Council up until this year and above all as the author of the major catalogue of New Zealand commemorative medals that bears his name. He will long be remembered as a friend to many of us.

In Leon, workers in Canterbury had a genuine, committed and untiring activist; one of the best there was in the seventies and eighties. It was a real honour knowing and working with him. May he rest in peace.

Our paths didn't cross often yet Leon was a highly respected Secretary in the Union movement. Employees are better off with his vision. God Bless Dawn & families-from Mulvaney families.
