William Ii Obituary

William Louis Arnold II

NEW ORLEANS - William Louis Arnold II, 67, passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013. Bill was born June 22, 1946 in New Orleans, LA. He attended St. Cecilia grammar school and F.T. Nicholls High School and graduated from Louisiana State University of New Orleans with a B.S. in Education. He joined the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.

Bill then began a long and distinguished career in the energy industry, focusing in risk management and corporate insurance. He was employed with Travelers Insurance Co., J. Ray McDermott, and Freeport-McMoRan in New Orleans, LA; Acadian Ambulance Services in Lafayette, LA; and Marsh and Benfield Group in Houston, TX. After retiring he and his wife moved to Diamondhead, MS, where Mr. Arnold enjoyed providing consulting services in risk management and corporate insurance to numerous clients.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He was a member of various hunting clubs and "camps" over the years. He knew all the "hot spots" for speckled trout and redfish along the Louisiana and Mississippi coastlines, and the best blinds for successful duck hunts. In retirement, he loved nothing more than teaching his three grandsons how to hunt and fish and taking fly-fishing trips with his wife to Wyoming and Montana. He was also an avid golfer who enjoyed getting in a round with friends on a daily basis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Louis Arnold and Audrey Williams Arnold. Bill is survived by his wife, Gesina Lochridge Arnold; his children, Rachel Walker, and her husband Hodge; and Will Arnold, and his wife Sara; his grandsons whom he cherished, Aidan, Owen and Graham Walker, his siblings, Carol Fontan, and her husband, John; and Michael Arnold, and his wife Edy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME in New Orleans at 12 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in the chapel at 2 pm, with burial at All Saints Mausoleum afterward.
