Charles L. Lazare passed away on July 16, 2017 peacefully in his sleep at the age of 74, in Baton Rouge LA. Born in New Orleans, Charlie was a 1961 alum of De La Salle; he briefly attended Tulane University before transferring to USL. He was an exchange student in 1966 in Sweden for International Finance before graduating in 1967. It is at USL where "Charlie" met his wife of 49 years, B. Gay Core (originally of Folsom, LA). Charlie began his professional career with IBM, before working more than 35 years with the State of Louisiana, DHH, retiring in 2009. Charlie is best known for his unconditional love for his family, friends, Mardi Gras, and tailgating. Charlie is survived by his wife, B. Gay Core, son Robert & wife Jennifer & granddaughter Riley of Austin, TX; Nicole & husband Jason Conn & granddaughter Sicily of Folsom, LA; Sheri Lazare of Lafayette, LA; his brother Rene "Buddy" Lazare Jr. & wife Paulette of Metairie; as well as 4 nieces, 2 nephews, & 3 great-nieces & 1 great-nephew. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Rene J. & Antoinette "Toni" Clesi Lazare, and his sister Gloria Lazare Giffroy. A Memorial Mas will be held on Friday July 21, 2017, at 10:00am with a visitation starting at 8:30 am at St Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16266 S. Harrells Ferry Rd, Baton Rouge, LA. To truly honor Charlie, be sure to hug those you love, and dance a Second Line in his name.
