It saddens my heart to hear of the passing of Mr. George Landeche. In my youth as a Boy Scout in Troop 321 in Des Allemands I appreciated all the time and effort Mr. Landeche dedicated to our troop. It was him that taught me how to frame a wall, build a good campfire by making the kindling "paper tin" as he used to say. It stuck in my head even until now. It was his way of saying it, and it was different but, it was true. Anytime I showed someone how to make I fire that started easily I told them just like that. I taught my daughter and son using his words. I remember rides to Boy Scout events in the back of his work truck. He cleared the land behind the scout hut, installed lights so we could have activities after dark. I could go on and on about the things he did for us. He may not be with us on earth any longer but his memory will live on forever in all the ways he affected the community with his love.
