It has been over 60 years since you made numerous visits to our home to comfort my Grandmother who was dying of cancer. Your gentle spirit and words of comfort helped not only her, but my parents and me. I have never forgotten you.

Seldom has someone touched the lives of so many individuals, or become such a part of the fabric of a community as Msgr Gautreaux. Fortunately the church parish that he so long served will forever bear the stamp of his devotion, perseverance, and faith, and his presence will always be felt.

Msgr. Gauthreaux was the celebrant for our wedding more than 48 years ago. We remained in his parish for many years before moving to the North Shore. We have many fond memories - working with him closely on the annual parish fair, singing in the 9:45 Mass guitar group and then going to our annual Christmas time outing on a bus to a Louisiana plantation. He presided at our daughter's First Communion and Confirmation. He was a wonderful parish priest and pastor who will be greatly missed but the comfort is that he will truly enjoy the presence of God for all eternity.
