Van has been on my mind lately-- I don't know why. So much has changed since he passed and I can't help but wonder how things would be different were he still with us. He touched so many.

Still thinking about you Van. Little things will always remind me of you. I heard your chuckle in my head the other day. It made me smile. You are still missed so very much.

I saw the climbing rock at Perkins Road Park and then read about an true American man online. Thank you for the opportunity to lean about Van and how he added to the lives of people who knew him. I am proud to know that Baton Rouge and his parents produced such a fine young man who set goals and then let nothing stop him from them. Thank you.

My heart is broken still on this 4th Anniversary of losing our Big Van and along with our entire family and so many friends, we lift you up, Dear Wilson's, and continue to pray for your healing each day.
How we miss Van! He comes to mind so many times of each month, especially when enjoying Nature's beauty in adventure and/or solace. He is along with me flying down mountains of snow, hiking boulders in the John Muir Wilderness in the Eastern Sierra's, and sitting quietly by the Southern California or Hawaiian shore. And of course, giving me the "thumbs up" when I'm cooking a pretty good meal!
My heart is full of gratitude and humility for the honor- name of our new Grandson, Van Christopher Peterson, born November 23, 2009 to son Kelsey and Kaitlun. Lil' Van will so love his Namesake and the amazing, fun stories many of you will share in joy and remembrance of a man so, so fine.
We Love you Van. We love you Claire, Steve, Blake and Grace.

I heard whistling today
unknown distance
but far away

a softly whispering whistle
carried upon a gentle wind
untold distance when measured by time

Since last I heard the whistle
of a man at work
sublime
