Alfred Johnson, 81, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, peacefully at home from a recent battle with cancer.
Born March 4, 1935, in Caledonia, Pa., he was a son of Alfred Leroy and Veronica Margaret (Fox) Johnson.
He was married to Elaine G. Beck Sept. 8, 1962, in Frewsburg, N.Y., by a Methodist minister. Elaine survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by children: Francis P. Johnson, Weedville, Pa., Nancy O'Donnell (Scott), St. Marys, Pa., Randy L. Johnson, Nevada and Barbara Markarevitz (AJ), Bath, Pa.; grandchildren: Nikki Carlson, (Daniel), St. Marys, Pa., Brandon Boroi, St. Marys, Pa., Amber Melendez, Bath, Pa., Andrea Markarevitz, Bath, Pa., Kyran Haupt, Stoystown, Pa.; one great-grandchild, Jaxen Carlson, St. Marys; siblings, Shirley Challingsworth, Hollywood, Pa., William Johnson, Rhode Island; and several nieces and nephews.
Alfred served for four years in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman on an Admiral's Staff.
He worked as a machinist in the carbon industry. He retired from SGL.
He lived in the Weedville area most of his life. Briefly left Weedville area to serve in the U.S. Navy, returned to Weedville, married and raised a family. Later in life he accompanied his wife to Phoenix before returning to Weedville area, where he enjoyed the remainder of his life.
He was an active member of the Weedville Wesleyan Church. He was involved in the Boy Scouts, MLFCU and participated in several mission trips.
He also enjoyed reading, board games, camping, family gatherings, traveling with family and computer activities.
He was good at constructing, fixing and organizing home improvements.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Weedville Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Bryon Kleppinger officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 2 p.m. until service time at the church.
Memorials may be made to Weedville Wesleyan Church, or charity of your choice and the family will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.

I always looked up to Laverne. Camping trips with Troop 183 in Caledonia will never leave me. Enjoyed his humor on the internet. You will be missed! Rest in Peace.
