Richard Steinreich Obituary

Groton - Richard Vaughn Steinreich, 88, of Groton, formerly of Meriden, husband of Dolores (Cerasale) Steinreich, died on Tuesday afternoon, June 23, 2009, at Fairview-Odd Fellows Home of Connecticut in Groton, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Bristol, on June 29, 1920, he was the son of the late William and Florence (Bates) Steinreich and had resided in Meriden most of his life and attended local schools. Mr. Steinreich was employed by T.A.D. Jones for over 20 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres of Operation. He was machinist mate first class on the USS Nitro.

Besides his wife of 67 years, Dolores, he is survived by two daughters, Lynn Macdonald of New London, and Donna and Brian Gregory of Millbury, Mass.; five grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, and Kevin Gregory, Kurt Macdonald and Allison Macdonald Hutchings; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Addison Macdonald; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, George "Ray" Steinreich of California and his sister, Barbara Wilcox of California.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service with military honors at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Walter Hubbard Chapel of Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Road, Meriden CT 06451. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Fairview-Odd Fellows Home of CT, (a non-profit organization), 235 Lestertown Road, Groton CT 06340.

Dear Lynn and Donna: I was so sorry to read about the passing of your father. May I offer my deepest heartfelt sympathy to you and your families as well as your Mom. How that dear man loved you all! I have such sweet memories of the time we all spent together.
