Donna B. Fish
Thermal, Ca. - Donna B. Fish, age 90, of Thermal, Ca., passed away on June 17th. She was born in Portland, Oregon to Harry and Waunita Bramel. Donna attended Oregon State University in Corvallis where she met and married Theodore Fish lll. They moved to the Coachella Valley in 1958 and grew dates and citrus and raised two children. Donna was active in her church and her children's schools as well as managing their date packing shed and mail order for the Brown Date Garden. She worked during the Date season until she was 89 years old. She is survived by her children Linda (Mike Teague) and Ted (Donna Tegarden). She has been blessed with four grandchildren: Scott, Alison, Kevin, and Jeff, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her two brothers, Harry and Robert Bramel. When her husband Ted had Alzheimer's, Donna insisted he continue to live at home. He passed in 2013.
She carried the torch as the family matriarch, hosting decades of birthdays, holidays, and parties at her home. Christmas was her favorite. She spent weeks leading up to Christmas Eve decorating every surface of her home and multiple Christmas trees. The decorations were left up for months and occasionally until Easter.
No time of the day was too late for her to share a cup of coffee with you. Donna loved to cook, bravely trying new recipes. Donna always had a book, or worked in her garden, talked to friends, or played cards. A few days before she passed, she trounced her family at a game of dominoes while enjoying a chimichanga and glass of rose. She embraced life to its fullest, every day until the end. We rejoice that she is in Heaven with Ted and ready to take on those willing to play a game of dominoes.
The family will celebrate her full life and all their loving wonderful memories together and privately due to Covid-19. If you wish to remember her, you may send donations to the Alzheimer's Association
for research in honor of Theodore Johnson Fish lll.
