I worked with Joe at Pal Joey's and he became a good friend and mentor. I learned a lot from him and always enjoyed our chats. I always felt important when I entered the deli and he'd call out "Dave Pappas ! How are you?" He was a legend in Palm Springs and anyone who knew him will smile when they hear his name.
Thank You Joe!!

We met a dozen years ago, on my first visit to Palm Springs. Somehow we clicked. And with every succeeding summer we grew closer. He adopted me, I think, as an honorary nephew. He was for me something north of a favorite uncle and just south of the father I craved. I learned from him. I loved him, deeply. And I will forever treasure our time together. To employ the Arabic he taught me: Arus salem, Joe; and we'll meet again, Inshallah.

Joe will be greatly missed, he was truly a people person and very fun to be around. I grew up with Sherman, Joe and my father as partners in Tramway Hospitality. Joe excelled in the restaurant business, Pal Joey's and Lefty Muldoons were always great for dinner and entertainment. God bless you Joe, you were always good with a kind word and a positive and fun attitude everyday.
