CATHARINE (CATHY) CHRISTENE ALLIBON (McNEIL) Born July 21, 1939 in Strathroy, Ontario. Passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 56 years Donald Kerry Allibon. Loving mother to Virginia, Mike and Heather. Proud grandmother to Matthew, Megan, William, and Robbie. Wonderful Aunt to Trevor, Jennifer, Ryan, Lindsay, and Kerry. Our Mom grew up on a farm in Southwestern Ontario. She was the first person in her family to graduate from university, after which she moved to Toronto and first worked, and later taught nursing, at Mount Sinai Hospital. After raising her three children, our Mom returned to nursing, providing comfort, care and compassion for her patients. Our Mom was a gifted musician. As a teenager she was the pianist and organist for her church, which developed into a lifetime passion for music. From the sounds of Mozart to Oscar Peterson, music could always be heard in our house. Known as "Kay" to many who knew her, she was loving and loyal to her many friends. As our Dad's partner in life, our Mom supported our Dad in countless ways throughout their 56 years of marriage, including being a caregiver for our Dad right up to the last days of her life. As our Mother, she was our guiding light. She taught us the power of unconditional love, the importance of kindness and empathy - especially for those less fortunate than ourselves, and that genuine curiosity and compassion for people was a virtue. We would like to thank the staff at Ian Anderson House for making our Mom's final days peaceful and comfortable. A Celebration of our Mom's life will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, we encourage you to consider a donation in our Mom's name to Ian Anderson House.
