Clifton TRAIN Obituary

CLIFTON DUNCAN TRAIN Clifton Duncan Train, age 94 of Mono, Ontario, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2021, in Wellington Terrace, Fergus. A private family gathering at his Hockley Valley home will take place in October. A showing of his artwork is planned for the future as his memorial for all those who wish to attend. Clif was born in Toronto to Clifton Train and Elizabeth Helen Train (née Taylor) on September 9, 1927. He attended Central Tech and went into the world of commercial art from there. He worked for Cockfield, Brown and Industrial Marketing Communications as an art director for 30 years and then went on to teach graphic arts and drawing at Humber College. Clif was an avid outdoorsman, environmentalist and conservationist. He was a long time member of Caledon Ski Club where the family spent every winter weekend. The other seasons were devoted to the countryside of Mono Township where he sketched and painted watercolours of the landscape and familiar landmarks. He loved to explore all the country backroads with his wife, Alice Anne. He loved to canoe and seek adventure in the Canadian back country. Clif made several trips to the Arctic as well as extensive trips to Algonquin Park and the French River. Clif is survived by his beloved wife, Alice Anne; sons and their spouses, Taylor (Sandra Glaze), Hall (Kathryn Chorney); and daughter, Helen (Patrick Hills); as well as his grandchildren, Max, Joseph and Mei Anne. He also leaves his loyal Labrador, Nell. Memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada ([email protected] or 1-877-231-3552) and the World Wildlife Fund (1-800-267-2632). Clifton lived a life well lived full of courage, hope and grace. www.grahamgiddyfh.com.
