DAVID MCCREA PARKER BLAIR November 16, 1964 - July 12, 2021 It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of David McCrea Parker Blair on July 12, 2021, in Montréal, Québec. David was predeceased by his parents, McCrea and Phyllis Blair. He is survived by Mathieu Jolicœur and sons, Mark and John Blair-Jolicœur; sisters, Susan (David) Wellard, Sally (Tom) Tasker and Debbie Spindler; father-in-law, André Jolicœur (Ginette Tremblay); ; sisters-in-law, Annie Jolicœur (Mathieu Duffar), France Jolicœur-Bécotte (Pascal Bécotte), Judith Voyer-Potvin (Seydou Conté); many nieces and nephews; members of his birth family with whom he recently connected, his father, Gilbert (Anna) Ducharme; his sister, Odette Ducharme; stepbrothers, Darrin and Darryl Ducharme and Erran and Shannon Nenka; last but far from least, his beloved dog, Kaya. Growing up in Winnipeg, David graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing). He lived and worked in Toronto, and then London, England before settling in Montreal where he found joy and love. For several years he worked for Radio Canada International and went on to a lengthy career as the business reporter for CBC Radio cross-Canada; both positions provided him great satisfaction with work that he loved and at which he excelled. We could list many great attributes for David but what really stands out was his dedication and loyalty to friends, family, and all those he loved. He made friends readily and touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He was such a proud father and having his own family gave him a strong sense of worth and made his life more complete. David's Christian faith was important to him and sustained him through the difficult times in his life. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 20th at 4:00 p.m. at the Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home Chapel, 5301 Decarie Blvd., (corner Isabella). The family will receive condolences prior to the service starting at 2:00 p.m. Service will be streamed live, please contact Nicole Matiation at: nicole.matiation@gmail.com for information on the webcast. Condolences may be sent to www.kanefetterly.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice are welcome. As his mum always reminded him: 'In the world you shall have tribulation; but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.' - John 16:33

David and I spent a lot of time together in High School and University. Late night studying at A & W or at my folks house, drinking copious amounts of coffee as we crammed for tests. We, along with our group of friends had a lot of laughs going to the local watering holes. Dave taught me how to drive standard transmission in his Ford Mustang and he travelled with our family to Hawaii. We met up at a mutual friends Funeral five years ago, and even though we hadn't seen each other in years, we just picked up where we left off. This is a life gone too soon. I only wish I had more time to reminisce about the old days with Dave. Condolences to his family and friends. Rob Braun

To the family and friends of David: I am very sorry to hear about your loss. I depended on him for his take on daily business news (CBC Raio 1 Vancouver). More importantly, I appreciated his humour and humanity. I will miss him.
He will not be forgotten.

I set my alarm for 7:25 every morning so that I could hear David give the business report on CBC Vancouver's Early Edition. In part, I wanted to learn about what was going on in the business world and knew that David could always provide me with some insight. In large measure too, though, I just liked to hear his voice; it always conveyed his delightful sense of humour, his curiosity, and most of all, his warm humanity. My deepest sympathy goes out to all his loved ones for this great loss. He was a treasure.

We all like to think we have more time than we actually have. Sure, David had even less, but it seems he had a very good life, albeit shorter, and that is a very good thing. CONDOLENCES to the friends and family. Now we know its later than we think.

Dear Mathieu, Mark and John,
We are so saddened by this news. We have shared many great NDG hockey memories and it was always a treat to bump into David in the hood. He was always so warm and friendly and he will be missed. We are thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. May his memory be a blessing.

I always enjoyed listening to David in the morning. He seemed to add a bit of humour to his morning reports and had such good rapport with Robyn Bresnahan. I will miss him.

As CBC Calgary Eyeopener listeners, our mornings will not be the same without hearing David's voice. He had such a calm reassuring tone and a depth of knowledge that made his topics easy to understanding and engage with. Thank you for sharing a little bit of him with those of us around Canada. Our deepest condolences.

As a faithful CBC listener, I have missed David's voice for the past litle while and wondered when I would have the great pleasure of hearing him keep us up-to-date on the financial and business world and then intersperse this with a story of his boys and the time he enjoyed with them. I was shocked and saddened to hear his passing announced this morning. My heart goes out to you, his family and all his friends. My sense of loss is nothing compared to yours, but he will be missed by many of us in the Maritime CBC family of listeners. God bless his good soul. Jan Cook, Dartmouth

Though he was taken much too soon, seeing him in my memories brings a smile to my face. David was one of the good ones, sharp, perceptive, and an excellent journalist who was a pleasure to work with. We'd have lively, wide-ranging and informative conversations in the RCI newsroom . He was open and genuinely liked people. Not only that, he had a wicked sense of humour and was a lot of fun at parties. May he be welcomed with open arms in the great beyond.
