I met Jean-Pierre for the first time in 2004 when I bravely approached his gallery with my portfolio. Despite that I was obviously a neophyte, he was gracious and kind, and took time to look at my paintings. I never did sign with the gallery, but was blessed instead with his friendship from that day onward. Over the years, as we got to know each other, we spent hundreds of hours talking about art, his travels, our lives, and so many other things. What a fascinating man he was, and with so many plans for more adventures! I know J-P was an important figure in the Canadian and international art scenes, and extremely well-respected for his expertise and careful curating of purchases for his clients. To me, however, he was a friend first and foremost, and a staunch champion of my work as a writer. His presence is already profoundly missed. Rest in peace, dear Jean-Pierre. My sincerest condolences to his family on this incalculable loss.
