Some of the things that come to mind when I think of the Sloanes were Mr. Sloane's (Tom's) big smile and upbeat personality and Mrs. Sloane's (Jean's) housekeeping and musical skills. When you walked into the house, there were always the familiar smells of the coffee stored in the basement, the brass polish on housecleaning day, and the delicious smell of freshly made bread on Jean's baking day. And there would usually be the sound of one of the kids practicing piano, with Jean's help. It's very sad that they are no longer with us; they were probably the last of their generation from the old street. I know their large and extended family will deeply miss them. Our thoughts are with you.

I have only known Jean and Thomas for a short while since I have been visiting my husband in the Saphire Unit at Chester Village. I loved to see them sitting together, with Thomas fussing over Jean and making sure she was okay. I really miss them, but rejoice in the knowledge that they are together in their eternal home. I extend our deepest sympathy to their family and give thanks that our paths crossed, not only with Jean and Thomas, but with some of you as well.

Mr. Sloane was my "Coffee man " for many years.
Always a smile and a cheery word. A wonderful man.
Thanks Mr. Sloane.
