I feel truly privileged to have known Uncle John. I am very thankful for the family connections that were established when the Rudan family travelled back to Winnipeg every year during the summer holidays. Uncle John was always my favourite uncle. After both of my parents passed away, John and Doreen 'adopted' the nieces and nephews. I enjoyed several 'Rudan Retreats' when I visited them in Ithaca. Uncle John was kind, generous, positive, practical and wise - with a good sense of humour. He fostered a deep spiritual connection through the church and maintained ties with the Ukrainian community both locally and in Winnipeg. One of Uncle John's greatest gifts was to develop a record of family history over the years by translating and printing his father's autobiography and then working on life histories of his mother, his uncle and his sister (my mother). Auntie Doreen, John, Tessa, Mike, Brenda, Megan, James and Will - please accept my condolences. The loss of Uncle John in this world has had profound effect on me and I can only imagine the depth of your grief. Our loss is heaven's gain and he is waiting for us there. Thinking of you with a prayer for inner peace, love from above, support for all of your needs and strength to continue on in this new chapter of your lives.

John was a strong supporter of the Cornell Catholic Community during years of challenge, change, and growth. His wisdom, strength and commitment were an inspiration to me during my years as Cornell Catholic Chaplain. My love, prayers, and condolences to Doreen and all the family. What a good and blessed life! David Connor

I grieve with you, Dorren. John was such a gentleman in every sense of the word. He was kind, compassionate, gracious, and he loved God, his family, and his friends deeply. Doreen, you and John were such good friends to my late mother, Edie Tougas. Thank you for your years of friendship. With my deepest sympathy, My God give you comfort and peace in the coming days.
