Dr. Josephine Saltzgaber
- - Dr. Josephine "Jo" Saltzgaber passed away on June 12. As a lab tech in the Biochemistry department at Cornell University, she worked with Dr. Efraim Racker, who encouraged her to pursue a Ph.D. She began her studies at Cornell, and completed her research with Dr. Gottfried Schatz at the University of Basel in Switzerland.
In 1981, Dr. Saltzgaber took a research position with Dupont/NEN in the Molecular Biology division. and moved to Massachusetts. While at Dupont, Jo was awarded a US patent for her work, was an author on several publications, and gave scientific lectures at universities and hospitals around the world. She retired from Dupont in 1995. She lived in North Chelmsford, MA for 38 years.
Jo is survived by her son, Dirk Saltzgaber, USAF (ret), of Abilene TX; and daughter, Lisa O'Donnell of North Chelmsford, MA, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her son, Erik Saltzgaber predeceased her in 2008. Remembrances and condolences may be sent to [email protected]
