LaZarre, Carrie Lisa
Carrie Lisa LaZarre, 51, passed away on October 30, 2017 at Hospicare in Ithaca, New York after surviving and thriving with a diagnosis of cancer for over 10 years. She was born on May 4, 1966 in Santa Monica, California of Adam Maurice and Jet MacDonald LaZarre. Carrie grew up primarily in Brockport, New York, and graduated from Brockport High School. After high school she graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in Communications, and then SUNY Brockport with her Masters in Education.
Carrie is survived by her sister, Julie (Tony) LaZarre-Miller, her brother Adam (Angie) LaZarre, and the lovely Rosie and Norman, her dog and cat (who both have wonderful new homes).
Carrie lived her life with passion - from friendships and family to teaching, travel, dancing, acting, and civic engagement, she had a strength of spirit and purpose admired by all who knew her. She inspired us, is loved dearly, and will be remembered often and fondly.
Carrie's life will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4 at 10:00 AM at the First Unitarian Church in Ithaca, NY, 306 N. Aurora St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the organization that brought Carrie and Rosie together: Pet the Pet Program Inc., 6371 Strong Rd, Trumansburg, NY 14886

I remember when we met in college. I was so impressed with your spirit - and long legs! You were a force to be reckoned with. I will cherish the memories of you with little Emma and the many times you fell asleep in my living room. I was so thrilled every time you had me down to Ithaca after my divorce. You were a funny, lively balm to my soul. You were one righteous sister. You were good enough, smart enough, and doggone, people liked you! (They loved you, Carrie.)

Carrie:
I am thankful for how kind and encouraging you were to me when I was a frightened freshman at Ithaca College. Thanks as well for carpooling between our hometown and Ithaca.

Carrie's smile was as wide as the universe. She always said I am still living with this cancer and beamed. When I think of the phrase: For the rest of my life, I am going to live the best of my life -- that was Carrie. She gave herself as a gift to all of us. With much love, gratitude and admiration, I give it all back to her, so she may remain showered in the love she gave. Always, Charlene Temple XOXO

I was lucky enough to have Ms. LaZarre as a second grade teacher 23 years ago, and all these years later I still remember how kind and full of energy she was. As a second grader I felt very cared for in her classroom. My deepest condolences to Ms. LaZarre's family and loved ones.

Such a loss to have this beautiful light extinguished so early. I didn't know Carrie well, but I was so impressed with her throughout high school, and I then I got a chance to work with her father, Adam, who could have been her twin. What a privilege!
I'm sure that those who loved her most will continue to feel the warm glow she leaves behind. I'm so sorry for all of you.

So sad that this beautiful light was extinguished so early. I didn't know Carrie well, but I was so impressed with her throughout high school, and had the pleasure of working with her father, Adam, after high school. The two of them could have been twins! Her warm glow will continue to be felt by all who loved her. So very sorry for all of you.
