Douglas ""Tank"" Landry, Jr transitioned to his eternal home on June 8, 2015 at the age of 51. He was a native of New Orleans. Tank is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas James Landry and Connie Dunbar Landry; grandparents, Luella Dunbar and Charlie H. Russell, Joseph Landry and Viola Landry; and his brother, Edward Billie Landry. Tank was an amazing athlete. He was a member of the 1979 Championship Team of St. Augustine High School and was an All American Linebacker for Louisiana Tech University; Fifth Round Draft Pick of the San Diego Chargers and went on to play in the Canadian and Arena Football Leagues. Tank's loving memory will be cherished by his devoted wife, Patrina Fontenette-Landry; his sons DeSean Landry and Ashton Soerensen; his brother Percy Landry and a host of relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. Raymond/St. Leo The Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Avenue, NOLA 70119-Rev. Anthony M. Bozemen, S.S.J., Pastor. Visitation to begin at 9:00 AM; with family tributes at 10:00 AM and Mass for 11:00 AM. Interment: Private.

Every time I speak with some of the people that Doug and I both knew or if I hear a song from when we hung out I remember what a wonderful guy Doug was. During my football season on game day I have a piece of tape on my wrist with his initial on it. Bless to his family

Im sorry to hear this & to see this much time has passed. Tank was my bud while he was in Williston rehabbing a knee & staying close to family in Canada. The Tank - remember him well at the old exhibition stadium in Toronto. When I think of the great Argos down at the CNE (Toronto, Ontario) Doug (Tank-best nickname ever, beats Pinball in my book) was someone I admired as a youth. I've thought of him from time-to-time over the years. Condolences to all who loved him. A truly special CFL all star.
