Georgia A. Newfield 87, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017. She was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on July 8, 1930. Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Newfield, her daughter, Michele Newfield Gauthier, her sister Veldrine (Chucsie) Armentor and her brother Freddie Armentor. She is survived by her daughter Ann Newfield, Rose Catalanotto who cared for her like a daughter; her nieces, cousins, and a family of friends. She will be missed by her loving companion Drew. She is also survived by her sister Meveline (Minsy) Armentor. Georgia was the co-owner of Acadian Corner along with her daughter Michele for 27 years. She was also a parishioner of St. Benilde Catholic Church. Special thanks to the caring staff at Academy Schouest House and St. Joseph's skilled nursing unit. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, on Saturday, August 5, 2017 beginning at 10am followed by a Catholic Mass in the chapel at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. If so desired, donations may be made to the Louisiana SPCA or the Alzheimer's Association Louisiana Chapter. Our Sincerest Sympathy to the family and friends of Ms. Georgia. She was always so nice and gracious. We've always looked forward to having her with us on our casino runs. She had the sweetest smile and a wonderful demeanor. She was missed before and we will continue to miss her.
