Doc Tolmas was a wonderful friend and mentor. He was the physician and human being we should all aspire to be. He taught me more about how to treat patients and families then anyone else. I will miss him.

Dr. Tolmas was my doctor as a child. I am now 45 years old. My mother would say that when I was sick or even just mad at her that I would cry for Dr. Tolmas, that is how much I loved him. Both of my sons who are now 19 and 23 were his patients for many years and I wouldn't have had it any other way! There has never been another doctor like him for my boys since he stopped practicing in Louisiana. I trusted him 100% We all loved him, he will be missed!

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember sharing some delightful times with Dr. Tolmas and his wife at AED conferences.
Sending all my best and hoping that you can work to treasure the wonderful memories that you have. He was an amazing individual. I am glad to have met him.
Best,
Martha

It is because of this wonderful man that I'm alive today, when I was 4 years old, he diagnosed me with Ryes syndrome, while at a doctor visit and call an ambulance , with in minutes I slipped in to a coma, and my heart stopped, he brought me back. I made my 5 th birthday in the ICU at East Jefferson Hospital

My son Evan would not be alive today without Dr. Tolmas keen sense when something just did not seem right. Kept him over after I went home and at 5 days old would have died from peritonitis. Today, Evan at age 45 is a success as a son, father, filmmaker and businessman. Thank you Dr. Tolmas, you will always be remembered for the gift you gave us in your kindness, compassion and wisdom. Rest in Peace.

Doctor Tolmas was a wonderful Doctor and person. I can remember him coming to our home to check on one of my brothers on a Sunday morning. He was one of the most dedicated doctors I have ever known. He understood the "issues" of growing up and knew how to communicate with both his patient and their parents.
The last time I saw him was before Katrina at his office on Metairie Road. We talked for awhile and I was amazed how he remembered me and my brothers. He also told me how he was unable to remove the late Dr Craven's name off the door of the office because he was such a good friend .
My thoughts and prayers go out to the Tolmas family at this difficult time.
RIP Dr Tolmas.

My heart hurt yesterday after hearing this news. I was a second generation patient of Dr. Tolmas and if it wouldn't have been for Katrina as his move to Texas, he would have been my daughter's pediatrician as well. I would still call him from time to time to catch up, get parenting advice, etc and sometimes we would talk for hours. He was never in a rush to hang up and neither was I. He loved his patients as family and never rushed office visits either. I am blessed to have known him and I truly loved him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
