John Gregory Watson Oct.14,1956-Mar.30,2016 Musician, writer and observer of life, Greg died at home in New Westminster, BC. He was 59. He will be remembered by his family, musicians and friends in the Vancouver area and his home province of Ontario. His final wish was that his ashes be spread on the shores of his beloved Go Home Lake. We hope he has finally found the peace that eluded him for so long.

Going through my cd's I found "Hide In Plain Sight" and decided to google Greg's name. Shocking! Love the cd but listening now has even greater impact. We lived in the same building on W. 14th & often shared stories, some were even true! I am open to emails from other friends.

very sorry to hear of Greg's passing. He was a wonderful colleague and mentor and I will cherish all of our conversations about music, and so, so many other things. Saddened by the fact that we didn't have the chance to jam before I left Vancouver. I hope you are at peace now, Greg.

I knew John from our online interactions. He was a pillar of the community, and was loved very much.

Thank you John for all the great times, all the amazing science fiction books you curated, all of the honesty.

I'll cherish the memories I have, and keep him alive that way. My condolences to the family, he was adamant about his private suffering remaining out of your eye. I'm sure that he did not want you to worry about him, so please honor that by celebrating all of the good things you remember.

Goodbye friend

John was very much liked, by those of us who never had the chance to love him. A witty, churlish, wry and occasionally silly fellow who added much to this world that he left so abruptly. It was a pleasure spending so many hours laughing at all the plonkers with you sir!

I'll miss the online discussions about politics, religion, music, thumb over or under the neck of the guitar and the banter. My condolences to his family and friends.

I only knew John through our on-line communications, but he was still someone I considered a friend. He was always sincere and honest, even when we disagreed.... and this what friendship really is. RIP.

Goodbye mate. Your online friends miss you. Our only consolation is you found your peace in your own home. Brive.

Greg and I worked and played together for many years, and he was a unique, uncompromising and often very funny guy. We became part of each others personal histories and I took for granted I would see him again, even though it had been a while. To his family, I share your sadness, and have many pictures and some music from our years of working together. Please let me know if you would like any of this.

Greg and I were roommates, many years ago in Vancouver. I happened to live across the street from him, and came to know him, because he played music with Oliver Conway. The house that I was living in was sold, and his roommate moved out at the same time, so I moved across the street. We had great talks about music and literature, over the time that I lived there. He gave me the Robertson Davies trilogy, as well as many albums that he was fond of. He was easy to live with. I was thinking of all of this today, after reading of his passing. My condolences to all of his family.
