Edna Cape passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday May 21, 2020 at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus from COVID-19.  She is lovingly remembered by daughters Elizabeth Cape and Janice Sherman, son-in-law Brian Sherman, grandchildren Scott Sherman (Stephanie) and Colleen Callacott (Bryce) and beloved great granddaughter Allie. Edna was born in Durham Ontario on November 29, 1926 to Wesley and Jemima Morton. She is survived by her sister Marie McKellar and predeceased by brothers Donald and James. Edna married her husband Jack Cape on July 19, 1952. Jack passed away April 17, 1990. Edna was a charter member of Parkminster United Church in Waterloo. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, flower arranging, traveling the world and spending time with family and friends.  She was a life long volunteer for UNICEF Canada. We would like to express our gratitude to all the staff at the Ottawa Hospital who provided excellent care and comfort to our mother. They went out of their way to learn FaceTime so that we could visit her via video daily. Due to restrictions of COVID-19, Edna will be interred with her husband at Parkview Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to COVID-19 frontline workers, UNICEF or a charity of your choice are appreciated.

Cape family were our next door neighbours for a number of years on Pittsford close in Waterloo. Edna and I, along with Rita andAnne would enjoy going out for a "Pittsford ". Lunch a few times a year. Edna loved flowers arranging and she looked after the flowers at our daughters wedding. We would have frequent conversations over the backyard fence. She was a kind and thoughtful neighbour. We still live at our same address so we are at walking distance to Parkview Cemerary where we can pay our respects at a later date. Our condolences to you Elizabeth and to you Janice and family

Janice & Elizabeth & family I was so sorry to hear of Ednas death. She was a very kind, loving woman. She was my CGIT leader & our neighbor for many years. She also helped with the flowers at our wedding. I connected with her again when she was at Luther Village where I volunteered for many years. She will be missed for sure. As a youngster, I have vivid memories of Edna arranging flowers in the Cape home, as well as watching golf on TV with her husband, a cheese plate at hand...a tradition Ive carried on with my husband. Deepest condolences to Janice and the entire family - a donation will be made in her mothers memory.

Great aunt Edna was full of life, and a wealth of knowledge. She loved playing bridge, spend time with family and taking trips all over the world with her sister, my grandmother Marie. We will all miss her greatly, and she will be joining her brothers up in heaven. I'm sending love and prayers to my cousins at this very hard time

To Edna's family, my sincere condolences on the passing of your mother during this difficult time.
I was a member, as was my family, of Parkminster United Church. Edna was a CGIT leader along with Eileen Runge. I have very fond memories of those years.
