It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of John Butty on November 18, 2020. Broken-hearted is his loving wife of over 30 years, Alexandra and his beloved sons, Andrew and Nicholas. He will be sadly missed by his close friends, Ed, Angelo, and Steve as well as by extended family and friends. John will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends; he was always available, with tools ready, to lend a helping hand. Born and raised in Hamilton, he spent his last seven years volunteering with the Neighbour to Neighbour food bank. Due to COVID restrictions, a celebration of John's life will be through invitation only. Funeral arrangements will be done through Bay Gardens in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hamilton Neighbour to Neighbour Food Bank and/or Chedoke Presbyterian Church would be greatly appreciated.

We have many memories of John and his kind, gentle manner and remember with fondness, the easy, friendly conversations we had back in the day.

I've known John for the last few years from my wife and my Wednesday morning shift at Neighbour to Neighbour. Always a pleasant and friendly person to talk to. I am very saddened to hear of his passing.

I have known John since childhood, and have so many memories of him. We can all agree that John was a good person, but there was a sweetness that John brought to endeavours that went beyond good. It is the spaces between the words that are the most meaningful when it comes to knowing a person; their focus when working with tools, their spontaneous laugh. I am grateful for the time I spent with John and will forever carry a part of this presence in me. It will join the sparks of all the other beautiful souls I have had the honour to know.

Such bad news have come from over the sea. We are deeply saddened by John's loss, and very sorry for the Butty family. Our special thoughts go to Alexandra, Andrew and Nicholas. We are thinking of all of you in these difficult times, and will keep John in our memories as the smiling and curious little boy next to Mary.
