RICHARD CULLIS Founder and President of Dial One Wolfedale Electric, passed away on September 10, 2010. Richard was a Master Electrician with a passion for this trade. He was born and raised in Scotland, and immigrated to Canada in 1971. In 1973, Richard co-founded Wolfedale Electric and in 1982 became the company's sole owner. Today, Dial One Wolfedale Electric is an industry-leading commercial electrical contractor. Richard's passion for the electrical industry goes unmatched. He is the former Chairman of the Board for the Ontario Electrical Leagues and was very prominent in industry associations and governmental affairs relating to the electrical trade. Richard will be remembered with fondness and respect by all who knew him. He was a red-haired Scotsman who was larger than life and a force to be reckoned with! He treated his employees like family and believed he has a responsibility to ensure that they had steady work and a career with a future. An avid golfer, Richard also loved his motorcycle, fishing and spending time on his boat. Richard leaves behind his wife Alice and was the proud father of two daughters, Jackie (Ken) Strachan and Michelle (Nicholas) Ponory. Friends and relatives will be received at Meadowvale Visitation Centre, 7732 Mavis Rd., Brampton (north of Hwy. 407 at Ray Lawson Blvd.), 905-451-4358, on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 from 5-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 5-9 p.m. If desired, donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated. Richard was one of the few greats in our Industry. Personally, my respect for Richard was "A plus". Why, "a hand shake was Rock Solid". Plus, Richard always treated people with respect. Then there was "that vision". Bottom line, Allan J. Boch is a better person (personally and in business) from knowing Richard Cullis. Once again, my Condolences.

It is with great sadness that we hear of Richard's passing. He was one great Man.
Richard and Alice were my very first customers when I moved to Toronto back in 1985. Joe had introduced me to them as he had called on them for many years and had great respect for them and thought I would get along with them and he was absoluty right. I learned alot from Richard as we did alot of design build projects together. I also admired Richard as he worked hard but always took the time to enjoy life. He will be deeply missed.
Our sincere condolences to Alice, Jackie and Michelle and thier families and the Wolfedale Family.

To a dear friend Richard, you will always be in my thoughts. When I first met you at the OEL Contractors Committee in 2001, you inspired me so much. Your passion for the industry and for Ontario Contractors is second to none. Through your wisdom and guidance the OEL and contractors have so much more say in this industry than ever before. One of my most memorable moments was when you and some contractors dressed and played the part of cops and robbers at an OEL industry conference , your laughter will never be forgotten. I have never met your family and if they are anything like you, our world is blessed.

Richard demanded your best but he gave you his loyalty, his generosity and his praise. He was smart and he was honest and above all he was a gentleman. His famous fiery temper only served to make him human. He was our very best friend and my defender. We loved him and miss him terribly.

I met Richard, back in 1973. We were new to this country, we had dreams, we had difference of opinions, we argued a lot and we shared a few bottles of Scotch together. Since then many years have passed and our friendship has become stronger, so strong that some of our mutual friends has defined us closer to brothers than friends. At present I am in Italy and unable to be with you in person. I am however constantly thinking of Richard. My friend Richard, stubborn, opinionated, hard working, at times with a "short fuse" but above all a kind human being, dedicated to his "clan" of relatives and friends. Alice, Jakie, Michele I shall remember Richard for as long I shall live and maybe one day.......who knows.

Thank you for sending me announcement of Richards passing... I was away all weekend and only just read it now. I had heard he was not well ...

I am in some state of shock and sadness about this and will always honour this fine man and all he stood for.. hopefully the OEL can produce some significant yearly award for a contractor/owner who exemplifies Richards commitment to the electrical industry. That would be a fine yearly memorial... Richard was an always will be an inspiration to me as I will always remember the first time I met him and the last...yes the credit belongs to the man...

Warm regards, Gary
