Dear Paul, my deepest condolences to you and your girls. When Ed told me about your loss I felt such a sadness in my heart, Sam was truly a wonderful woman with a heart of gold, she was such a role model to me and I can clearly remember many times that we spent together. Åsa Kadom

Dear Paul and family. We were so saddened to hear of Sam's passing. You will be in our prayers. We will always remember the day we had that wonderful dinner together in Athens Greece. We all had so much fun! That is the memory we will always keep of her. We hope it will also bring some comfort to you too.

Paul, Christianne, Stephanie, Juliana, Elaine, Julie & Estelle, I am so sorry for your loss of Sam. I have great memories watching her windsurf and water ski on Chandos Lake. She looked like she was in her element on the water. She was a wonderful spirit to know and spend time with. My deepest condolences go out to you.

I am with you all in spirit today as you celebrate the life of dearest friend SAM- Sandra Ann Markham, Spontaneous, adventurous, musical...always up for anything, we shared so many incredible memories over the last 40 plus years ... RIchmond Hill High School , our tribe of girlfriends, the angst of boyfriends, sports teams, winter carnival princesses, basement parties spinning bottles & vinyls listening to Pink Floyd, Elton John & Crosby Stills Nash & Young...trips to cottages, Florida , GAP year Skiing & working in Banff, 600 Cougar Street, Norquay 35,000 pin. University & visits to see each other at York U & UBC, jobs - Windsurfer & Apple, teddy bears, Sherwood Avenue, being there when Sam met the love of her life ,Paul, sharing weddings, the miracle of children- 3 beautiful girls whose names were as long as they were tall...Christianne, Stephanie & Julianna! Her family meant everything to her...more cross country visits and in the last 3 years a wonderful reconnection after several separated ...reunions with RHHS girlfriends- thanks Birgit for organizing, staying with Sammie at her home, reimmincing & having the privilege of time together to get to know her 3 daughters, incredible young women whose moms kind and generous spirit will live on in them forever as will her radiant smile. Sam fought the cancer so courageously , never complaining about the pain ...thank you to the medical team at Princess Margaret Hospital who tried everything. Sam was always the eternal optimist hoping for a miracle cure or a new trial drug that would work...she is a true inspiration to us all , make each moment matter, wear pink, slide down bannisters, stop and smell the roses, do what you always wanted to do , now, and never ever give up hope...dearest friend Sammie I feel so blessed to have had you in my life and to have shared part of your life with you ... forever in our hearts ...until we meet again - Jane

Meeting Sam many years ago on Chandos lake was an immediate friendship, she brought a spark of life everywhere and I admired her for this. She was a wonderful athlete and I considered her the best female water skier I had ever watched and had the pleasure to ski with. Sharing many Happy Hours, camp fires until dawn, later marriages, kids and a great friend to tell our life stories with. We have missed you since Sam and family moved off the lake. I am hoping you are having a Happy Hour with your dad and smiling your lovely smile. Paul, girls, Elaine and family, Julie and family You are in our thoughts and prayers.

I am heartbroken for Sam and her loved ones. I have happy memories of time spent as teenagers at the cottage on Lake Chandos. I can still see Sam proudly driving us around the lake in her boat. I am with all those who mourn the loss of this beautiful soul today and her fun loving spirit will be with me,now and always.

Paul, I can't imagine what you and the family are going through.
Sam was a bright light for everyone who knew her and I will always hold her memory in the highest regard.
May time heal the pain and allow you to only focus on all the wonderful memories you and the girls have.

My sincerest condolences.
