He is missed every single day...
September 01, 2017
Some people are born and leave a few footprints and others are born and blaze a trail. Dr. Caldwell was a trail blazer and admired by all who new him personally. A gifted musician, teacher, mentor, and professor were hallmarks of his legacy. A loving husband, father and grandfather serve as examples for all of us. He was a friend and loyal to all who new him, and his service to God through his many gifts touched the lives of many. His quiet and reflective personality demonstrated his humility. There will be an open space in Riverland Hills music program, but it will be filled by those he taught and and lead.
To the family: I will be eternally grateful that James Caldwell crossed my path, and for the lasting impact on me and my family. Our prayers are with you all. My prayer is that all of the wonderful memories you shared bring you strength for the present and future!

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Dr. Caldwell was the finest professor and mentor anyone could hope to find in the Music Education field. The way he trained his future teachers was second to none. Every task he placed before his students served a purpose in his classroom and in their future classrooms. Every day that I teach in the college classroom or in the private lesson studio, I employ some teaching philosophy I learned from him. While I chose to remain in the piano field and not pursue the role in Music Education that he so encouraged, I have always utilized everything I learned from him in all aspects of my college and preparatory music duties. I will never forget the impact he had on my education, career, and philosophy of teaching. Dr. Caldwell made sure I realized that I was meant to be a teacher.

Here's to a wonderful family, the amazing individuals who comprise it and to the life and memory of Doc--a steady and compassionate man who positively influenced many a young life, including my own. May the grace and peace of the Ever Present Sprit be with you all. And, in it's time, may your grief become "good grief" filling you with glad memories, gratitude and pride for having shared in life with Doc Caldwell!
Bless your hearts...
