ATTLEBORO – Antonio Luongo, Sr. 98, of Attleboro, MA, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Study Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. He was the devoted husband to the late Clara Marie (Dintino) Luongo who passed away on August 29, 2020.
Born on October 18, 1922 in Altavilla, Italy, he was a son of the late Francesco and Anna (Sarro) Luongo.
Growing up, Antonio spent a significant time in France and Belgium. Returning to Italy to proudly serve his country in the military during WWII, he became of prisoner of the war and a true war hero. After the war had ended, he moved to the United States.
Antonio worked as a Class A Toolmaker. He held positions at Sheridan Silver, Bergh Brothers, Larson Tool and World Wide Optical. He then decided to start his own company, A.L. & Sons Tool & Die, Company which today continues to be proudly operated by his sons under the name A. Luongo & Sons, Inc.
Antonio was a communicant of the Transfiguration of the Lord Parish – St. Mark in Attleboro Falls.
Antonio was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who strongly believed that family always came first. He was an avid reader, loved westerns and building puzzles with his family. He enjoyed making homemade wine, baking bread, making pasta and sharing these homemade goods with his loved ones. Antonio was always completing home improvement projects and thoroughly enjoyed sharing his knowledge and life experiences with others. He was a brilliant and caring man whose legacy will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his three sons, Frank Luongo and his wife Anna of Rehoboth, Tony Luongo and his wife Jo-Ann of Rehoboth and Peter Luongo and his wife Lisa of Attleboro; his beloved seven grandchildren, Christina, Gabriella, Tiffany, Andrea, Alexandra, Meaghan and Peter.
A private visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will be held by the Luongo family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.
