I met Clara when I worked for Home Instead years ago. She was a sharp as a tack and would remind me of anything I missed during our visits! She was incredibly gifted with a delightful personality and a huge knowledge of life. I would always call her on her birthday as we shared having birthdays in October. I will miss her lovely smile.

Clara was a dear friend to my mother, Vera Hodgson, for many years at St. Columba's church. After my mum died, Clara faithfully called me every few months just to keep in touch. I valued her friendship greatly and will miss her. My condolences to you all. Leslie

I met Clara when she would come to the Senior Peer Counselling events. We bonded as my middle name is Clara.
She was a true mentor in that she would deal with her challenges with such grace.
Clara also was remarkable with knowing all her grand-children & great grandchildren and what they were up to and was so proud of each and everyone of them.
I will miss our chats in person and since moving up to Cowichan Valley our many phone calls.
I am so happy that I was able to be at her 102nd birthday party and see some of the family 'clan' and friends.
I can still hear her laugh.
Take care Connie and Bill

Oh Connie ~ I'm so sorry for the loss of your wonderful mom! It seems like our moms were connected forever and it's 56 years since she gave me my first job at The Aberdeen Hotel. I loved your mom and it was so nice to see her at my moms funeral a year ago. My biggest regret is that we never got to have that lunch with you and me and our special moms! Love and Deepest Sympathy from all the Carlow "Kids".

I will miss my brief weekly visits with this young lady. Every time she came into Backfit was an inspiration to me and those who met her. I had the honor of knowing Clara for many years and she always asked after my wife and family. A beautiful soul with a great wit and depth of personality. Wednesday afternoons are not the same. Farewell till we meet again.

Wonderful Clara! I had just been going to call, to see if I could pop by for a visit tomorrow, when i saw the link to this obituary on Facebook. I am so distressed not to have seen you one more time before you passed through that curtain. My loss more than yours... I'm certain you are now rejoicing.

Thank you for your life so well lived, and your forever example. And blessings to Connie and that huge extended family of yours, all of whom you loved so much.
