I was one of many undergraduates that Dr BOAG taught at U of A. He was a favourite to many of us.

I have fond Memories of David and Sophia. David as my MSc. supervisor helped me greatly in learning the scientific method as well as writing clearly. Sophia was a wonderful host and warm entertainer, and my wife and I greatly enjoyed their company many times after I was no longer a student, both in Edmonton and Victoria.

I was most sorry to hear of David's passing just today. I remain most grateful for his generosity and guidance when I arrived as a young professor at U Alberta nearly 40 years ago. I remember him with great fondness and respect as an important mentor who much affected the way I developed my career. I offer my sincerely sympathy and condolences to the Boag family.

We have fond memories of Dr. Boag at the R.B. Miller Biological Station, where I (Don) was a graduate student 1970-74. He also served on my thesis committee. He always ensured all work was done with strict scientific integrity. I always learned something in discussions and debates with him.
Condolences to family and friends!

Just yesterday, I learned from a friend in Victoria, that Dr David Boag had recently passed away. I googled the obituary for information and it brought back memories of years gone by. Dr Boag was a great lecturer in Zoology at UofA. I took several courses taught by him and was also fortunate to be part of the summer field crew at the RB Miller station in the late 1960s, of which I still have fond recollections. It gave me lasting experiences of the beauty and wildlife of the Sheep River area.
My sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time. My thoughts are with you. Tom, I first saw you as a youngster (about three years of age) at the RB Miller station during a summer in the late 1960s. Maybe one day, we'll meet.

It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to Mr. Boag. We are grateful to have known his kind soul, though for only two years, we learned about his amazing, and highly accomplished life, wishing we had known him longer! But grateful to have seen his shiny, kind and sincere eyes daily. Enjoyed our conversations in Italian, and his compliments on my shoes!

This man will be missed. Thank you for being the BEST companion to our John Zampini! See you on the other side someday David. Ciao bello! from the Zampini Family.

Dear Bren, Joy, Biff and all your families, sincere condolences to you all on David's passing. The Boag family was at the heart of my childhood and adolescence. Though I saw David rarely he was very present in the family conversations. He is missed by all who knew this fine and noble gentleman.

Our deepest sympathy.
It was very nice knowing David.
We will miss his sweet smiling face and his winking at us at the dining room table and speaking to us in Italian at Hillcrest Extended Care.

God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

David was a mentor, colleague and friend in the Dept of Zoology, University of Alberta. A great teacher and researcher who influenced many graduate and undergraduate students in a most positive manner. Great role model in so many ways. Condolences to Franca, Tom and families.
