Einar VINQVIST Obituary

Einar Vide Tjorborn Vinqvist passed away suddenly at home from a heart attack on Oct. 7, 2017at the age of 86. He was born in Malmo, Sweden and prior to emigrating to Canada on the S.S Stockholm in 1957 Einar studied Physiotherapy at Skodsborg Sanitarium in Denmark. He was always interested in health and fitness and worked as an orderly and ambulance attendant for Resthaven Hospital in Sidney, B.C. This is where Einar met and fell in love with the receptionist Elaine Wagner. In 1958 he accepted a position at Viteway Natural Foods Bakery in Victoria and developed recipes for nutritious baked goods and was known for his healthy muffins and cookies. Einar and Elaine wed in 1959, and Elaine also joined Viteway that same year and they worked together for over 40 years.

Einar enjoyed cooking, photography, Volvos, weightlifting, linguistics, organic gardening, playing accordion and organ, and animals especially felines. He loved nature and believed in animal rights. He was a longtime member of the Victoria-Swedish Club which he enjoyed very much.

Einar leaves his loving wife Elaine, daughter Dena, son-in-law Randy, and grandson Evan. Family in Sweden includes his sister Marianne (Hans), brother Conny (Britt-Marie), nephews Robert, Jan, Christer and niece Carina and many relatives.

No service by request, but you can remember Einar by spending some time in nature and thinking of him.

We love you Einar.

May the music of nature sing to you,

softly in the whispering wind,

sweetly in the melodies of the songbird,

peacefully in the rustling of the leaves,

may your spirit soar and your heart fly as a bird's wing.
