For the last year and a half, until she moved from her Parksville home, I spoke to Florence on the phone on a weekly basis. Although the reason for the call was only to take her grocery order, we had a good long conversation every time - chatting about this and that before we got down to business.

Florence had a great joke that I always claimed to not have heard as I loved to hear the mischief in her voice as she recounted the tale of a woman advising a judge who sentenced her husband to one day in jail for each slice of peaches contained in a tin he stole, that he had also stolen a can of peas!

I'll miss Florence but am glad that she is now in a place where she doesn't have to feel any more pains in her body

I enjoyed my visits to her house in Langford on Wednesdays to take her Sendial order, sit on her couch and drink her coffee, until she moved up island.

She was a delight to converse with over the telephone, when we would call her daily to check in on her when she lived in Langford, until she moved up island. Will attend her service on Friday.
