Joyce Adcock Obituary

ADCOCK, Joyce Mary (Pearson, Bradford) February 10, 1930 - May 30, 2018 Joyce was born in Nanaimo. She lived at Kimberly, Trail, Victoria and Lytton, BC during the war. Returning to Trail after the war, she had to leave school early to help support the family. She worked at the Trail Bus Depot and as a Telephone Operator while her father worked at the Cominco Smelter. She married Earl Bradford and they moved to Castlegar, BC. There she started a family and worked at Bob's Food Store and at the Post Office. She was a member of the Castlegar, BC Championship Women's Softball Team. She also took in foster children before there was even a Foster System in BC. With a transfer to Fording Coal, she became the first Postmaster at the new town of Elkford BC. A few years after Earl's passing, she transferred to Ganges, Salt Spring Island as Postmaster and married Harry, Postmaster at Lantzville, BC. in 1981. She worked there with him for many years. They were also involved with the National & BC, Yukon Postal Union C.P.P.A and as Foster Parents. She spent the rest of her life at Lantzville. Joyce was predeceased by first husband, Earl Bradford, son John Bradford, grandsons Jason Paulson and Michael Ogloff and brother Jimmy Pearson. She is survived by brothers Gary Pearson of Sidney and John (Sheila) Pearson of Victoria; daughters Coral-Lynne (Barry) Armstrong, Jo-Ann (Bill) McFarlane, Phyllis (Rick) Paulson; daughter-in-law Carol Moon; grandchildren Tracey Silen (John), Tammy, Tracey, Earl, Carrie-Ann, Corey (Trisha), Katrina; great-grandkids Sebastian & Christian, Jagger & Donovan, Dougie, Jamie, Jade, Kyla, Austin, Jason, Cole, Morgan, Ty, Rhys, and Brooke; Bradford Family nieces and nephews, Pearson family nieces and nephews; extended family: Judy, Wendy, Butch, Philip & Dougie Blondeau, Myriah Smith (Faith, DJ, Logan), Lindsay (Clara) Smith (Emilio, Carlos Cherita), Shelby Fletcher (Tyson), Angie & April, Erin & Kelly and her trusty dog "Slick". Although a spiritual person, Joyce did not wish a service or celebration. She was Laughing, Smiling, Happy. Cremated remains to be scattered at Lumberton, BC.
