Carolyn Walker Obituary

WALKER, Carolyn With great sadness we say goodbye to our cherished wife, mother and friend. Carolyn died peacefully with her family and beautiful music at her bedside. She was born in Oliver, BC, raised her family in Calgary, AB, and then retired with her husband to her home on the water outside of Victoria. We will remember her sense of humour, ceaseless support and generosity, passion for music and her double-bass, sharing books, gardening, and making everything around her beautiful. Her career in preschool education touched many families, and her passion for nurturing three and four year olds was unparalleled. She is survived by husband Lorne, daughters Sandy and Lori, son-in-laws Ty Bellavie, Stephen Bruyneel and grandchildren Harrison and Katie and her beloved pup Muffin. She left us with messages of deep gratitude for friends from the Good News Choir, Shady Mountain, Shady Creek United Church, Crystal Pool and Jan Renton; neighbours Bob, Celia and Dave, and Venables, Walker, and Orr family members. Our deep gratitude goes to the Palliative Care team at Saanich Peninsula Hospital and Dr. Stefanie Green and many other medical professionals who made our path a little less arduous. A celebration of life is planned for January.

Such a lovely and kind friend will be so missed by everyone in Willis Point where she made her home. Her calm aura always left me with a feeling of optimism. Will miss seeing her amongst her moss garden and babbling stream. What an amazing and gracious woman. My heart and thoughts go out to all the family especially Lorne.

Dear, dear Carolyn.

Becky and I miss you so much. Our Sunday evenings of playing and singing alongside you, as a part of Shady Mountain, were as wonderful as wonderful gets. The songs we shared and the good times we all had will forever live inside my soul. I so loved looking over at you mid-song to see you glance back my way with your beautiful ever present present. Silent night was one of my favourites. I used to move a little closer to you as you bowed the strings to not only hear your music but feel the vibrations in my body as well.

You were a wonderful friend and we love you very much.

Go rest high on that mountain
Lynn you're work on Earth is done
Go to Heaven a shouting
Love for the Father and the Son

Carolyn will be so missed by her friends at the Crystal Pool. She greeted me on my first time there, introduced me to others, and asked what kind of books I liked! Never without a smile, and a book to lend. My condolences to her family and many friends.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the joy of getting to know Carolyn through waterfit at the Crystal. I haven't been to the pool for several years but my warm memories of her with beautiful smile, her roller bag and books to share are clear and bright.
She was truly such a lovely, gracious person. I was always glad when I saw her at the pool and enjoyed sharing books and chatting about favourite reads. She was a role model of goodness in action and will be missed. I hope each of us honours her memory by doing more kind and generous things.
