Joyce PATERSON Obituary

Joyce Paterson was born on August 17,1937 in Edmonton Alberta to Arthur and Grace Edwards and passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Christ on Friday November 10, 2017. Joyce was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and is survived by her devoted husband Bruce, her loving daughters Kimberly, Yardley and Kathy (Tom), and adored granddaughter Tiffany (Brian), great grandson Easton, and step-children Pam (Gordon and children) and Roy. Predeceased by brothers Bill Edwards and Jack Edwards, she is survived by her beloved brother Stan Edwards (Pauline), sister-in law Doreen Edwards, nieces and nephews, and cousins in Larkhall Scotland.

Joyce worked for the City of Edmonton for many years and retired as a Planner in 1980 afterwards moving to Calgary and volunteering with the Calgary Zoo as a Docent. Her time with the Zoo gave her close friends and many years of helping to spread the appreciation of animals. After moving to Vancouver Island in 1993, and Victoria in 2001, her interests included opera, mah jong, reading, shopping, gardening, traveling and was an active member of 'Grads' along with volunteering as a member of St. Aidan's United Church for their annual bazaar.

A quote found in her belongings conveyed her approach to life: Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, for all the people you can, for as long as you can. She fought with strength, courage, spirit and grace to the very end. Joyce was greatly loved by her family and we will miss her and love her always and forever.

In lieu of flowers, tributes in Joyce's name can be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation, British Columbia / Yukon Chapter 109-828 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver BC, V5Z 1E2

A Celebration of Life will take place in the new year.
