My condolences to Dan,Roy and Angela.Rick was a very likeable and friendly man.I think he helped out everyone I knew growing up in Esquimalt in the 1970\80 era.I always wondered if he ever arrested anyone in his time on the police force, as he was always so kind and friendly. He was a real tribute to the EPD.

We will miss Rick's cheery hello and warm smile welcoming us when visiting our Dad at Sunset Lodge. Thank you for the beautiful memoir of your Dad. We sensed he was a caring, genuine soul and your words showed us the true depth of this wonderful man. We are sorry for your loss....Rick will be missed by many people.

I was always proud to call Rick my brother. I named my son after him, Richard Charles Allen.

Very Sad to hear of Rick's passing, he will now join Pete Ash and their many
fellow Football buddys. Rick was a very good man and friend.

I am so sorry for your families loss. He was a great man and an even greater friend to my dad. He will be missed greatly.

I had the pleasure and honour of working with Rick and also calling him my friend. His kindness always shone through, even in some difficult police related situations. When I bought my first 'big' boat, Rick was there with advise, suggestions and help. I think of him often, and he will be missed.

I worked with Big Ricky for 25 years in his EPD days. I have many fond memories of Rick's endless stories of family, friends, work and his younger days. There was always lots of humour. He was a great guy all around who always had plenty of time for everybody.
