Mary Jacobs Obituary

Mary remembered to provide so many ordinary kindnesses every day that she will be remembered by all as extraordinary. Mary died peacefully at home with her family and felt ready to pass on. She will join her beloved husband, Joe Dan Jacobs, after 47 years apart. She is survived by her children, Matt and Joann, son-in-law, Scott, and treasured grandchildren, Suzannah, Jackson and Josie with whom she shared life, love and wisdom.Mary Jacobs lived most of her life in Vallejo. She attended Saint Vincent's School and remained close to many friends and classmates throughout her life. She enjoyed being part of Holy Family Church and shared their deep commitment to community. Mary worked as a nurse for Kaiser Vallejo when she was a young woman and then again through to retirement as a Hospice Nurse. She was a natural care giver and took care of everyone around her. She is survived by her sister, Pat (Mallon) Tedesco and Jim Tedesco, and her brother, John Mallon and his wife Carol, and many nieces and nephews and grands, who will miss her consistent birthday cards! She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Mallon; her sister, Nancy (Mallon) Usher and Ron Usher, and all of the people she showed kindness to as they passed on.Mary did not want a funeral or memorial but we will remember her on her 80th birthday with a celebration of life and Mass at Holy Family Church and a reception on Feb. 16, 2019.

I love this photo of you as a little girl with your siblings. You would have been 82 in a couple of weeks. Josie is turning 18! She was your bonus and I know how much you treasure her. She is wonderful and I know you are still giving her guidance. We miss you and love you very much.

Mary is in my thoughts often. Recently I met a mutual friend who has come through serious illness and is now doing very well. Mary was one of the main people who kept reaching out to her during the worst of times. All I could think was that St. Mary Jacobs had been part of this miracle.

I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family. Mary sounded like a lovely woman. May the family find comfort in one another and in the beautiful promise at John 6:39, 40.;

Mary was an angel on earth. My mother knew Mary through their mutual association with St. Vincent's and both working as nurses at Kaiser Hospital. Mary's special work was caring for the elderly. I always felt that Mary took a special interest in my parents but I am sure she was the same way with numerous other people. She had a special way with people. She was one of the few people who could reach out and communicated with my father. Through Mary I discovered numerous things about my father that he never discussed and for that I am eternally grateful. All my siblings recognized what Mary did and how she looked after my parents. God bless you Mary and thank you for everything.

Mary was my sponsor for confirmation. I still have and treasure the book she gave me about Saint Theresa. I also remember the days going to The Mallon house so that Jack and my Grandpa Mickey could play cribbage. Grandma and Dorothy would have a famous time chatting while the guys played. My brother, George and I would watch . I enjoyed John's company and miss having you sell shoes at Higgin's. Vallejo days of long ago were fun. Thanks to all of the Mallon family for the memories I will always treasure. Mary, rest well with God. You have earned it.

Years of friendship, her role as guide in becoming a hospice nurse, learning biblical Hebrew and how to face aging and illness with grace.

Will never forget sharing tears with her in 1999 as we stood at sunset near the Mt. of olives looking at our 1st view of Jerusalem.
