Matthew J. Poveromo, of the Tripp Park section of Scranton, died Tuesday morning, November 6, 2007, at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
Born in Putnam, Conn., he was a son of Vincent and Alice Bloom Poveromo.
He was a member of St. Ann’s Basilica. He was an avid New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ravalo and Gilda Mione Poveromo; maternal great-grandmother, Gleta Atherholt.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Amanda, at home; his companion, Ashley Wombacker, of Scranton; maternal grandparents, Charles and Carol Atherholt Bloom, of Kingston; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral will be held Friday from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Basilica. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, 3705 Fifth Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213, or Janet Weis Children’s Hospital, 100 N. Academy St., Danville, PA 17821.
