I had the distinct pleasure and honor of serving as Danny's Platoon Sergeant while we were both assigned to 183rd Maintenance Company, Fort Carson Colorado. Danny deployed with my platoon to Iraq for a 15 month deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). During that time we shared many stories and good times. Danny was a consummate professional during the time that he served with me. He performed admirably during armed conflict when a great majority of Americans rested in the United States. To say that we were just coworkers would be an understatement. Danny became a part of my family. He will be greatly missed by not only his blood relatives but the brothers and sisters he made along the way during his military career. I want to personally thank the James family for allowing me the honor of leading and mentoring Danny. Rest Easy DJ.
