My dear Aunt Leola,

It was three years ago that my family and I were delighted to stop in and visit with you on the way to Las Vegas from Dallas. You were so welcoming and cheerful just as I had always remembered you as we rehashed memories from the past. Now here it is just three years later and the Good Lord has called you home. A solemn reminder that time is so short from a distance even though the years seem so long up close.

Loved ones are passing more often with each passing year, and time is running out for all of us. I'm so happy to know that you were a Christian worthy of the Kingdom that you now call home. It makes it so much easier to celebrate your Victory of joining our Heavenly Father than to agonize over the defeat of the human body - I don't know how non-believers cope with such things.

You were an exemplary mother, grandmother and aunt. Thank you for the time we spent together and so happy that we had a chance to talk on the phone recently before all of this unfolded.

I love you as does my family, and we will always cherish the memories. You will be missed. RIP.

It is sad we have to lose all our loved ones, aunts, uncles and cousins, that we all grew up with. I haven't seen Aunt Leola in awhile and that too is sad. I remember she was the one that always had a smile and she was very sweet and funny. I pray for my cousins and their families for strength and peace during this time. Love you all.
