Lorraine was born on March 13, 1931 to Stonewall Jackson and Linnie Lee (Henderson) Walker. She grew up on a farm in the Poe Prairie Community just south of Millsap, Texas. There she discovered her love for both vegetable and flower gardening. She was the last surviving child of the Walker family. Lorraine went to school at Millsap for all twelve years where she was an avid basketball player, like all of her brothers.
After graduating from school in 1948, Lorraine had an array of jobs throughout her lifetime, from working at Williamson & Dickies in Fort Worth straight out of high school, then waitressing at the River Ranch Cafe on the Brazos River. She married Clyde Ashley, and a daughter, Glenda Lee was born in 1952. Lorraine enjoyed sewing for the public, working at Mitchell Industries in Mineral Wells. She then decided to further her education at Fort Worth Business College, after which, she took a job at Fort Wolters Army Base and worked in supply. While working there, she met her future husband, William Corbin in 1968, and they married on May 21, 1971. The couple resided in Mineral Wells until Fort Wolters was closed down. Both Lorraine and C.C. transferred to Fort Sill, in Lawton, Oklahoma, but made their home in Burkburnett where he still resides.
Lorraine and C.C. both retired from Civil Service, Lorraine in 1988, and C.C. in 1991. After several years of retirement, they both went to work for the Burkburnett Independent School District in the transportation department. Lorraine retired from BISD after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Lorraine was a very loving mother. She worked hard to provide for the needs, spiritual and emotional, for Glenda. Her deep devotion to her daughter and family was untouchable. Lorraine was an active member of Central Church of Christ, where she served in many ways. She loved having people stop by their home and look at the beautiful flowers she grew. Lorraine loved to crochet and sew to produce gorgeous counted-cross stitch pictures. Lorraine and C.C. owned several antique cars together, and both loved to go to car shows, and go on car trips with the club when they were members. Even with having dementia, her love of flowers and her '57 Chevy never faded.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, and two sisters.
Lorraine is survived by her husband of forty seven years, William C.C. Corbin of Burkburnett; daughter, Glenda Bullard and husband Martin of Weatherford; granddaughters, Angela Lorraine Stemple and husband Max, and Alayna Lee Lawrence and husband Adam; and great-grandson, Samuel Clay Stemple, all of Weatherford; as well as step-children, Sharon and Kevin.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Lorraine's name to the Alzheimer's Association, or the charity of your choice.
