Denver E. Wikoff

89, of Dover, went to be with his Lord and Savior and welcomed into heaven on Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Union Hospital at Dover following a sudden illness. Born in Portsmouth, he was the son of the late Leroy A. and Lottie E. (Lyles) Wikoff. Following high school, Denver enlisted into the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Denver began a career driving truck for Reese Trucking at Dover. Denver was a member of the Dennison Foursquare Gospel Church at Dennison and also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion at Dover. For over 50 years, Denver was a member of the Wertz Trio where he played the drums and sang. In his spare time, he loved riding bikes on the area trails and spending time with his family.

On July 17, 1952, Denver married Janice M. (Kappeler) Wikoff and together they shared over 68 years of marriage before his passing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mike (Sandy) Wikoff; three daughters, Ruth Ann (Chuck) Kuntzman, Pam (Randy) Frank, Paula Kimble and a son-in-law, Ray Roof, all of Dover; a sister, Peggy Kwiatkowski of Rochester, New York; 12 Grandchildren and 25 Great-Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, a daughter, Gail Roof, a brother, Niel Wikoff; a son-in-law, Steve Kimble and a brother-in-law, Robert Kwiatkowski also preceded him in death.

A Funeral Service celebrating Denver's life will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 beginning at 3:30 PM in the Dennison Foursquare Gospel Church at Dennison with Pastor Rod Phillips officiating. Even as I shed tears for your loss, I'm honored to remember one of the most amazing men I ever met, Denver. My heart goes out to the family during this time of grief.

“I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories.” —Leo Buscaglia

I know words can’t take away the hurt you’re feeling, but I want you to know how much I care. Sending you love and strength in this time of grief.
