Hughes, Helen "Tiny" CASTLETON Helen "Tiny" Hughes, 69, of Castleton passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at St. Peter's Hospital, after a courageous battle with COPD. Born in Lansingburgh, she was a graduate of Columbia High School, East Greenbush. After high school, Helen worked for the New York Division of Criminal Justice Services. She worked for many years in the accounting department at Cluett, Peabody and Company. Helen especially enjoyed her job at Questar III BOCES. It was so important to her that students young and old succeed. Helen was a kind and caring person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Helen was predeceased by her parents, Helen McCormack and Clifford Dean. She is survived by her son, Michael Hughes of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter-in- law Haley; and grandchildren, Austin, Teaghan, Keeton and Jenson. Also her son, Scott Hughes of Newport Beach, Calif. Helen is survived by her companion of over 16 years, Volker Kuehnert. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a celebration of Helen's life beginning at 7 p.m. in the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Ave. (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Those who wish to make a contribution in lieu of flowers may donate to the American Lung Association, 418 Broadway, 2nd Floor, Albany, NY, 12207, in memory of Helen "Tiny" Hughes.
