DeLuca, Josephine M. COLONIE Josephine M. DeLuca, 87, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at Albany Medical Center Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna Scalzo and the wife of 62 years to the late Alfred (Fred) DeLuca. Josephine was a graduate of Coeymans High School and St. Peter's School of Nursing. In 1948 she moved to Catskill and starting her private duty nursing career at the Catskill Hospital. After retirement she became a resident of Colonie. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, dining out, horse racing, trips to casinos and working with flowers. The family would like to thank the Lacey family for the loving care they gave to Josephine. Survivors include her sisters, Theresa DeLuca of Loudonville and Carmella (John) Keon of Latham; and many nieces and nephews. Josephine was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Pagano Pape and Helen Ann Adamo. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Firemen's Home, 125 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson, NY 12534.

I was so sorry to read of Aunt Jo's passing. Growing up in Catskill she and Uncle Fred were a big part of my early years, as were all the DeLucas. I carry fond memories with me on my life journey. May she rest in peace!
