Detlefsen, Tessie GUILDERLAND Tessie Detlefsen, 99, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center. Tessie was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Michal and Stanislawa Zakens Przekurat, who arrived in the U.S. from Poland with Tessie's two brothers before Tessie was born. She attended St. Casimir's School in Albany, and worked for many years for Wilke's Laundry. She was a communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary's Church, and was active in the Rosary Society and PTA at the church and school. She also was a member of the AARP and of the Guilderland Seniors, and enjoyed AARP trips, gardening to grow tomatoes that she canned, and also roses, and crocheting, making both fine lace and afghans. Tessie was predeceased by her husband Carl H. Detlefsen. She is survived by her son Karl M. Detlefsen (Vannaka) of Pittsfield, Mass.; her daughter Marguerite Dawson of Guilderland; her former daughter-in-law Gail Detlefsen of Averill Park; her grandchildren, Kristopher Detlefsen (Nicola), Kara Sedgwick (Tom) and Amanda Spring (Ted); her great-grandson Luke Detlefsen; her niece Jean Deere; nephews, Timothy Rafferty and Bernard Kaese; and by many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Charles Przekurat and Joseph Przekurat; and her sisters, Ann "Sophie" Pomykaj, Lucille Sayers, Frances Rafferty, Helen Knapiewicz and Veronica Kaese. Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday at 9 a.m., and from there to Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Guilderland at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-7 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather in the funeral home at 4:30 p.m. Friday for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Attn: Residents Fund, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, NY, 12084; or to Community Hospice, St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, 310 S.
