I wish to extend my condolences to Gerris family on the loss of their matriarch, who was an inspiration to all who had the good fortune to know her. In 1981, I came to Duval County Schools from Syracuse, New York, as the new Supervisor of Instructional Television. Not being familiar with the district and the specific operations of the ITV Department, Gerri took me under her wing and enabled me to function in my role. She introduced me to the Jewish Community and totally made me feel welcome. Although I left Duval County Schools after a short period of time, I maintained contact with Gerri up to the time she could no longer do so. I hold her in great admiration and respect. We all have a finite time on this planet. Gerri used that time for the good of so many people and she enjoyed doing so. May those memories sustain and bring peace and comfort to family and friends.

Gerri was an incredible, brilliant woman and friend who I had the pleasure of knowing during the time we worked together for Instructional Television with offices at WJCT, Channel 7. The years we worked together as teacher-trainers were the highlight of my long career in education. Her devotion to teaching media literacy was inspirational to me. I hope that Carol, her grandsons and their children will find comfort in knowing that Gerri made a real difference in the lives of her students, colleagues and friends. Despite times of sadness and terrible losses in her life, Gerri remained optimistic, involved and devoted to her family and those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace my friend, Dr. Turbow!

My prayers are with you at this time in the loss of your mother and grandmother. I wish there were words that could take away your sadness but be comforted in knowing that she will always be there to guide you as she has done so many times before.
May your memories bring you comfort and joy.

Peacefully, sleep comes
To a dear, beloved heart.
Quietly, we try to understand
The time has come to part.
Tenderly, the love shines on --
A never-ending light.
Gratefully, we feel its warmth and say --
Mother and Grandmother...sweet dreams, and good-night.

With deepest sympathy,

Gerry was always a woman of strength, grace and style. She sought to bring the world of creativity and beauty to many through her love of the arts in many forms.

I met Gerry as part of the "sisterhood" of past presidents of National Council of Jewish Women. She later invited me to join the Board of Elizabeth Edgar Hall (for local women's scholarships) with a most gracious note. When she moved from Solano Grove to The Coves, I volunteered to be one of her moving-day packers and a logistics person to give her control and support for making this very stressful event a wonderful new beginning.

Gerry thrived with much independence (and a cadre of friends) throughout her life. She brought a special light to each of us. She is remembered fondly.
